Sen. Mullin touts Trump bill in improving FAA in OKC and elsewhere

Oklahoma U.S. Sen. Markwayne Mullin says one major contribution of the President’s One Big Beautiful Bill signed into law last week is the modernization of the air traffic control industry.

After all, its Air Traffic Control academy is located in Oklahoma City and some of the $12.5 billion bill is going to the training and improvements.

“Air and Space has become our second largest industry in our state. But also, what a lot of people don’t realize is, in Oklahoma City, we train all the air traffic controllers across the United States,” said the Senator Tuesday during when he joined SiriusXM’s Patriot’s David Webb on The David Webb Show.

“We have a huge facility there. And one thing you’d be surprised when you go into these towers, they’re using technology from the 80s, literally from the 80s, instead of using a true GPS system that we all have in our vehicles…”

Sen. Mulliln said with the $12 billion, the FAA will soon go into the towers systematically and upgrade the systems to technology that every other aviation system in the world is using.

“This will put us in in the driver’s seat again, and put us where we need to be. And luckily, we have an actual Transportation Secretary that knows what they’re doing, not, you know, Pete Buttigieg.”
