Oklahoma’s most recent loss in rigs is around the state

Three separate oil plays in Oklahoma lost some drilling activity over the past week, according to the most recent Rig Report from Baker Hughes.

The largest play, the Cana Woodford, experienced the decline of one rig, leaving 20 others still in the search for more oil. The Ardmore Wood count fell one to two rigs and the Arkoma Woodford went from one active rig to no reported drilling, according to Baker Hughes.

The Granite Wash in western Oklahoma saw an increase of one rig to a total of 13. The Mississippian, reported Baker Hughes, remained at one rig.

The nation’s most active play, the Permian Basin, lost 5 rigs, leaving 265 still active in West Texas and southeast New Mexico.

The Williston in North Dakota and Montana was unchanged at 31 rigs. The Haynesville added a rig to reach a total of 37 and the Marcellus count slipped one to 23 rigs. The Eagle Ford remained at 41. The Utica stayed at 12 rigs. The D-J Niobrara saw no change with a count of 8 rigs. The Barnett continued with 2 rigs.
