Tech giant Google, with one data center in northeast Oklahoma and another in the works in Stillwater, plans to spend at least $3 billion building more centers across the country and powering them with renewable energy.
It reached a major deal with Brookfield Renewable Energy Partners to acquire 670 megawatts of clean energy for 20 years via two Pennsylvania hydroelectric plants.
The company said it’s part of an agreement to increase the firm’s renewable energy portfolio with increasing demands for artificial intelligence and cloud computing. The large agreement followed Google’s January 2025 announcement of Power Purchase Agreements with Leeward Energy for energy from 724 MW of solar projects under development in Oklahoma.
The Oklahoma projects include three solar projects to be buildt adjacent to Google’s data center in Pryor.

Construction was underway at the time of the announcement on the 372 MW Mayes County solar farm located within a mile of the data center. It should be operational by the end of the year. The entire portfolio consisted of three projects; the 145 MW Salt Branch Solar, 125MW Huckleberry Solar and 102MW Mayes Solar.
As part of the agreement, the solar farms will deliver the electrical power to the Grand River Dam Authority which will supply electricity to the Pryor data center operations.
Months after the announcement, Google announced development of a $3 billion AI data center campus in Stillwater. The 400-acre project will inclue six data center builidings.
Gov. Kevin Stitt made the announcement.
