Feds sign off on project to enhance rail transportation of oil from Utah’s Uinta Basin

A recent Trump administration decision approving an expansion of an oilfield project in Utah could mean the eventual transportation of more crude oil to the Cushing Hub in Oklahoma.

Colorado leaders have argued the Uinta Basin rail line carring out from Utah across Colorado and to other locations might endanger some of their rivers and cities. But the government recently signed off on a proposed Wildcat loadout  facility expansion to improve the transfer of the oil from trucks to trains.

As explained by the publication Common Dreams, the goal of the plan is to transfer an additional 70,000 barrels of oil per day from the Wildcat Loadout Facility, which is located in Utah, down to the Gulf Coast refineries via a route that runs along the Colorado River.
