Customers of Evergy Kansas are bracing for another nearly 10% hike in their monthly electric bills, possibly on top of a previously approved 9% jump.
A settlement agreement was recently reached for a 9.6% increase in residential base rates and all it needs to become official is approval of the Kansas Corporation Commission.
The hike would mean an average increase of about $9 a month for residential customers and if approved, would be on top of the approval of regulators for Evergy to build two natura gas plants and a solar plant, a decision that will already hike residential bills by 8.6%.
