Environmentalists in Dallas call them “The Toxic Twins.” And they’re launching a campaign to have the city shut them down, contending the two firms are polluting Dallas neighborhoods.

The environmentalists are targeting two shingle factories, GAF in West Dallas and TAMKO in Joppa. TAMKO has several distribution centers throughout Oklahoma.

Environmentalists stood outside the Dallas City Hall on Monday and represented two groups, Singleton United/Unidos of West Dallas and Justice for Joppa. One spokesman charged, “It is important that we hold the city accountable for its actions, especially when they don’t comply with their own code just to keep their citizens’ health in danger.”
