Latest private meeting of Corporation Commissioners focused on legislature

After Oklahoma Corporation Commissioners recently held a public video meeting between offices in Tulsa and Oklahoma City, they then gathered in their latest non-public meeting. It was private discussion of how to respond to some legislative matters.

The commission’s latest Open Meeting Act Exempt Event Compliance Form shows the three commissioners met privately on May 14 while Commissioners Kim David and Brian Bingman were in the Tulsa Field office and Commissioner Todd Hiett was in Oklahoma City. The meeting lasted 17 minutes.

The form showed Commissioners met with Travis Weedn, Legislative Liaison who reported on concerns he was provided recently regarding the OCC protest docket and the OCC role in approving new power generation.

“Commissioners discussed possible responses,” stated the form.

Among others present in person for the non-public meeting were: Jeff Kline, Legal Advisor to Commissioner David; Erica O’Neal, Regulatory Assistant/Paralegal to Commissioner David; and Jared Haines, Administrative Aide to Commissioner Bingman.

Others attended via Microsoft Teams and included: Nicole King, Legal Advisor to Commissioner Hiett; Jana Slatton, Director of Operations for Commissioner Hiett; Brandy Wreath, Director of Administration; Trey Davis, Chief Communications and Operations Officer; Pat Franz, Agency General Counsel; Dan Boyle, Agency Deputy General Counsel; and Weedn, the Legislative Liaison.

The meeting was held May 14 and the form submitted on the Commission’s website May 19.
