A short week of trading lies ahead for crude oil prices following the long Memorial Day weekend and after they gained 1% on Friday’s trading.
Prices rose for the day but still finished the week down because of continued concerns over high interest rates in the U.S.
West Texas Intermediate crude gained 85 cents or 1.1% to finish at $77.72 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange.
Brent crude finished up 76 cents to $82.12 a barrel on the July contract but closed up 73 cents on the more-active August contract settling at $81.84 a barrel on ICE Futures Europe.
Both WTI and Brent came off their weakest showings on Thursday….the lowest since Feb. 7 for Brent crude and Feb. 23 for WTI .
June natural gas fell 14 cents to $2.52 per 1,000 cubic feet.
Oklahoma energy stocks finished last week with gains on Friday including a 5% boost for Empire Petroleum and 3% jumps for Mammoth Energy and NGL

As for other energy companies, they experienced losses, according to the Texas Energy Report.
