Wednesday brought another day of tumbling crude oil prices as they slipped 2% while investors gained a little more confidence that supplies won’t be disrupted by the fighting in Israel and Gaza. Plus, OPEC producer Saudi Arabia’s pledge to stablize the market eased some of the worries.
West Texas Intermediate, the U.S. benchmark, dropped $2.48 or 2.9% to settle at $84.49, nearly $10 less than 2 weeks ago on the New York Mercantile Exchange.
Global benchmark Brent crude dropped $1.83 or 2.1% and finished at $85.82 a barrel on ICE Futures Europe.
November natural gas was unchanged at $3.38 per 1,000 cubic feet.
The few Oklahoma energy stocks that made gains Wednesday had moderate increases of 1% to 3%.
