After a 3-well pad brought wells with combined production of more than 3,000 barrels a day in Oklahoma’s STACK, Ovintiv plans more exploration in Kingfisher County.

Permits to drill issued this week show the company plans a 2-well pad four miles east of the city of Kingfisher at 17 16N 6W. The Church 1606 wells will sit at a site approximately one mile north of state highway 33.

Ovintiv has been in a race with big producers in the state. It recently brought in 2 wells on a single pad in Garvin County and production topped 3,200 barrels of oil a day.

As OK Energy Today reported earlier in the week, Ovintiv brought in 3 Post Brothers 1607 wells on a site at the south edge of the city of Kingfisher. The wells, completed in April had combined production of 3,102 barrels of oil a day.

The company plans to release its second quarter 2021 results next week. The release will be made after the close of markets on Tuesday, July 27 followed by a July 28 conference call.
