Boil order lifted at Guthrie tavern’s water system

Boil order lifted in SE Oklahoma – Oklahoma Energy Today

A state agency has given the all-clear for a water system located in Guthrie.

The Oklahoma Department of Environmental Quality announced the boil order for the Rock A Way Tavern water system has been lifted, stating that the water is now safe for human consumption.

Last week’s order to boil water was issued due to the presence of E. coli. State and federal regulations require that customers be notified if, at any time, public drinking water is determined to be unsafe.

This boil order applied only to Rock A Way Tavern and DID NOT impact any other public water supplies,” stated the DEQ.

DEQ is responsible for regulating more than 1,300 public water supplies in the State of Oklahoma. All public water supplies are required to regularly submit samples to DEQ for routine testing to ensure that water is safe for human consumption.
