Chesapeake Energy’s Board Chairman picks up more shares in the company

A new filing by Oklahoma City’s Chesapeake Energy with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission shows a large acquisition of shares by one of the members of the company’s directors.

The Dec. 13 filing was made by R. Brad Martin who acquired 110,000 more shares in the company. The acquisition involved one transaction for 50,000 shares and a second involving 60,000 shares.

Martin has been the non-executive Chairman of the Board since October 2015 and a member of the Board since June 2012. He is also Chairman of RBM Venture Company which is a private investment firm. He also served as the interim president of the University of Memphis in 2013 and 2014.

Martin was also Chairman and CEO of Saks Incorporated from 1989 to 2006. He also is a director of FedEx Corporation.
