After climbing above the $71 mark earlier this week, crude oil in the U.S. dropped in Thursday’s trading. Oklahoma energy stocks recorded a lot of losses on the day.
West Texas Intermediate crude fell $1.75 or 2.42% to finish the day at $70.61 on the New York Mercantile Exchange.
Global benchmark Brent crude was down $1.79 or 2.36%,closing at $74.03 on ICE Futures Europe.
The decline ended three weeks of gains for crude oil prices.
Natural gas futures finished down 3 cents or 0.84% to $3.78 per 1,000 cubic feet.
Energy stocks performed badly for the day with a 7% loss by NGL Energy Partners and losses of 6% for Devon Energy, 5% by Mammoth Energy and 4% for Gulfport Energy and Laredo Petroleum.
