Supply chain crisis not a joke to Oklahoma Representatives

Rep. Lucas: Coronavirus "a roller coaster like no one living has ever experienced" | KOKH

“Further consideration of your massive expansion of social spending—–only stands to worsen the supply chain crisis.”

US Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg might have shrugged off the nation’s supply chain crisis with a joke about Christmas Eve shopping, but it’s far more serious to Oklahoma Congressman Frank Lucas and other GOP members of the House from Oklahoma.  They’re calling for the President to do something and do it now.

Lucas is the Ranking Member of the U.S. House Science, Space and Technology Committee and in a recent letter along with other Republican leaders in the House urged President Biden to immediately reconsider his policies that they say are making the already growing U.S. supply chain crisis “significantly worse.”

Together with Oklahoma Reps. Tom Cole, Kevin Hern, Stephanie Bice and Markwayne Mullin along with Transportation and Infrastructure Committee Ranking Member Sam Graves of Missouri and Natural Resources Ranking Member Bruce Westerman of Arkansas, they urged action by the White House.

“We must address the global supply chain and ports crisis before Congress even considers additional social spending and taxation legislation,” wrote Lucas and his colleagues – 160 House Republican Members of Congress in total. “Our priority right now should be strengthening our Nation’s economy and increasing our global competitiveness.”
The letter urged the president to put a halt to the trillions of dollars of spending proposed in Democrats’ reconciliation legislation.

“Further consideration of your massive expansion of social spending, paid for by anticompetitive tax increases on small businesses and families, only stands to worsen the supply chain crisis. We urge you to call on your Congressional allies to halt discussions on a budget reconciliation bill that aims to reshape the social fabric of this country and instead work on real infrastructure solutions that focus on moving goods and people safely and efficiently throughout our great country and around the world.”
