The $600 billion spending package passed by House Democrats last week drew criticism from Oklahoma Republican Congressman Markwayne Mullin who said it’s nothing but another socialist wish list.

Rep. Mullin, a member of the House Energy and Commerce Committee said it also abandons the all-of-the-above energy strategy that “significantly improved our nation’s energy independence.”

Mulling said the $600 billion spending package provides what he called unprecedented increases in the Democrats’ domestic spending priorities and underfunds the country’s national defense.

Mullin also reacted by saying the Democrats’ measure increases dependence on China for critical minerals by attempting to “dramatically increase deployment of technologies that use critical minerals such as electric vehicles” without having domestic sources or alternatives already in place.

In weekend comments to his constituents, Rep. Mullin said the new equity and climate requirements for transportation programs included in the measure will add new burdens on state and local agencies.

“With inflation increasing at an alarming rate, we can’t continue this reckless spending spree,” wrote Mullin.
