Oklahoma’s crude oil production increased more than 27% from February to March of this year according to the U.S. Energy Information Administration.

The EIA, in its most recent report showed Oklahoma’s oil production for March 2021 was 404,000 barrels a day of crude oil, up from the 317 ,000 reported daily in February. The increase was 27.4%.

However, the state’s crude oil production for March was still down 26.5% compared to the 549,000 barrels a day of production in March of 2020.

The EIA stated New Mexico had record-high production of crude oil and natural gas in March 2021, averaging 1.16 million barrels per day (b/d) of crude oil and 6.19 billion cubic feet per day (Bcf/d) of natural gas. The March 2021 increases in crude oil and natural gas production were the largest monthly increases on record for New Mexico.

The increased production occurred after a month when production fell in response to the extreme winter weather in the U.S. South Central region.
