US crude climbs back to $66

 

Several things were at play Thursday as oil prices rose more than 2% in trading.

There was the the factor of a weaker dollar along with expectations that a crude oil glut might not exist for long following a steep drop in U.S. fuel stocks along with Texas refineries resuming operations after the February winter storm shutdowns.

Brent crude oil futures for May settled up $1.73, or 2.6%, to $69.63 a barrel while U.S. West Texas Intermediate crude for April ended the session $1.58 or 2.5% higher, at $66.02.

Three Oklahoma energy firms had big trading days on Thursday. Blueknight Energy Partners LP had a more than 15% gain on a 41-cent increase to $3.12.

Laredo Petroleum Inc. saw a 13.08% gain when stocks jumped $4.70 to settle at $40.64.

LSB Industries Inc. finished with a 9.13% gain on a 39 cent hike to $4.66.

Alliance Resource Partners, L.P. gained just about 1% on a 4 cent increase to $5.89.
Ascent Resources dropped 25 cents for a more than 2% loss to $12.
Chesapeake Energy went up 59 cents for a 1.32% gain to $45.34.
Cimarex Energy closed up $1.69 at $66.21 for a gain of 2.62%.
Continental Resources Inc. gained nearly 1% when stocks increased 25 cents to $30.98.
Cypress Environmental Partners LP slipped one cent to $3.14 for a 0.32% loss.
Devon Energy Corp increased 74 cents to $24.64 for a 3.10% gain.
Enable Midstream Partners dropped 20 cents for a 2.73% loss to $7.13.
Gulfport Energy dropped 0.39% to finish the day at $0.077 cents.
Helmerich & Payne, Inc. fell 41 cents for a 1.25% loss to $32.72.
Magellan Midstream Partners added 11 cents for a 0.24% gain to $45.10.
Mammoth Energy Services dropped 25 cents for a 4.58% loss to $5.21.
Matrix Service Co had a 3 cent increase to $15.75, a gain of 0.19%.
NGL Energy Partners slipped one cent to $2.57 for a loss of 0.39%.
OGE Energy Corp closed down 78 cents for a loss of 2.43% and finished at $31.35.
ONE Gas Inc lost nearly 1% on a 69 cent fall to $73.75.
ONEOK Inc. fell 55 cents for a 1.08% loss to $50.40.
Ovintiv Inc. gained 2.27% on a 62 cent hike to $27.94.
PHX Minerals Inc. slipped two cents to $3.13 for a loss of less than 1%.
SandRidge Energy Inc. picked up 6 cents to $4.48 or a gain of 1.36%.
Unit Petroleum fell 60 cents for a 4.29% loss to $13.40.
Williams Companies lost 0.38% when shares fell 9 cents to $23.90.
