Crude oil prices finished down on Friday

 

After making significant gains last week, oil futures on Friday dropped and analysts blamed fresh outbreaks of COVID-19 in China for taking the glow off the outlook for energy demand.

West Texas Intermediate crude for February delivery plunged $1.21 before settling at $52.36 in trading on the New York Mercantile Exchange. That represents a loss of 2.26% for the US benchmark.

Global benchmark Brent crude for March delivery dropped even more, falling $1.51 or 2.68% before finishing at $54.91 in trading on ICE Futures Europe.

While oil futures fell, natural gas prices on the NYMEX increased 7 cents per MMBtu and finished the day at $2.74, a gain of 2.66%.

Oklahoma energy stocks saw some increases while others suffered losses.

Alliance Resource Partners, L.P. lost 17 cents for a 3% fall to
Blueknight Energy Partners LP was unchanged in Friday’s trading at $2.02.
Chesapeake Energy Corporation finished with a 5 cent increase or gain of 1.56% to $3.26.
Cimarex Energy Co lost $1.98 for a 4% drop to $47.55.
Continental Resources, Inc. stocks lost 42 cents or 2.12% to finish the day at $19.35.
Cypress Environmental Partners LP finished up 9 cents for a 3.32% gain to $2.80.
Devon Energy Corp lost 71 cents or 3.50% to settle at $19.57.
Enable Midstream Partners LP finished down 15 cents for a 2.41% loss to $6.07.
Gulfport Energy Corporation dropped nearly 2 cents for a loss of more than 14% to settle at only a dime a share.
Helmerich & Payne, Inc. lost $1.83 for a 6.64% decline to $25.73.
LSB Industries, Inc. fell 14 cents for a 3.60% slide to $3.75.
Laredo Petroleum Inc lost $1.13 or 4.07% and finished Friday’s trading at $26.61.
 Magellan Midstream Partners, L.P. fell 1.17% after stocks lost 54 cents and finished at $45.53.
Mammoth Energy Services Inc dropped 2 cents to $4.68, a loss of 0.43%.
Matrix Service Co fell more than 7% after stocks lost $1.09 to close at $13.85.
NGL Energy Partners LP settled at $2.90 with a one cent loss.
OGE Energy Corp. saw a 58 cent increase for a nearly 2% gain to $31.30.
ONE Gas Inc rose 53 cents for a nearly 1% gain to $71.99.
ONEOK, Inc. fell 59 cents for a loss of 1.32% to $44.17.
Ovintiv Inc lost 49 cents or 2.75% and settled at $17.35.
PHX Minerals Inc closed up 11 cents for a gain of 4.04% to reach $2.83 per share.
SandRidge Energy Inc. saw a nearly 3% gain after stocks increased by 14 cents to reach $5.01.
Williams Companies Inc lost 19 cents or about 1% to close at $22.5.0.
