Crude oil prices were up in Thursday’s trading in the US and in Europe.
West Texas Intermediate July futures rose 88 cents or 2.3% a share before settling at $38.84 in trading on the New York Mercantile Exchange.
Brent crude rose 77 cents or 2% and finished at $41.48 on ICE futures.
Natural gas remained unchanged at $1.64 per MMBtu.
Chesapeake Energy saw its shares tumble 29 cent or 2.20% before ending the day at $12.95. SandRidge Energy added 5 cents or 3.5% and finished at $1.48 per share.
Devon Energy shares were up 2.5% or 32 cents to settle at $12.95. ConocoPhillips added 43 cents or 1% before finishing the day at $44.45.
EOG Resources added 45 cents and ended the day at $52.93 while Marathon Oil grew by 12 cents or 2% before finishing at $6.49.
ONEOK added 18 cents and settled at $36.35 while Phillips 66 jumped 5% or $3.36 a share and finished at $76.23.
American Electric Power dropped 48 cents before ending the day’s trading at $81.77.
