As the U.S. House picks up Tuesday with a review of the four-bill minibus, hundreds of amendments will be debated regarding the Energy-Water and Defense sections.
One is from Oklahoma U.S. Rep. Markwayne Mullin who is attempting to limit any expenditure of funds meant to study the “Social Cost of Carbon.” In other words, his amendment would forbid the funding of any studies on “consider of greenhouse gas emissions and the effects of climate change.”
“None of the funds made available by this act may used to prepare, propose, or promulgate any regulation or guidance that references or relies on the analysis” regarding the social cost of carbon under Mullin’s proposed amendment.
House members of the House Rules Committee meet later Tuesday to consider more than 500 amendments filed for the several bills that make up the mini-bus which includes Interior-EPA spending.
Meredith Blanford, a spokeswoman for Rep. Mullin told OK Energy Today by email that the congressman’s amendment to H.R. 2740 might not be considered immediately.
“It’s a big bill with a lot of amendments so they only got through a few sections of the bill (last week) and the rest, including Congressman Mullin’s amendment will be done,” she said. “We’re not exactly sure on the floor schedule yet.”
