Water and used tire bills signed into law by Gov. Stitt

Among the bills recently signed into law by Oklahoma Gov. Kevin Stitt was the Groundwater Irrigation District Act.

House bill 2263 allows for permit holders in a proposed groundwater irrigation district to request such a creation with approval by the Oklahoma Water Resources Board. The Act would require districts to consist of whole counties and for county commissioners to assign members who would serve without compensation.

The Act becomes law on November 1, 2019.

Gov. Stitt also signed a bill amending the Oklahoma Used Tire Recycling Act. Senate Bill 878 increases fees under the act.

The used tire recycling fee for car tires goes up from $2.50 to $2.90. Used tires for larger vehicles will see the fee increase from the current $3.50 to $5.50 per tire. For those tires that are for large trucks, the fee will be increased from the $7 per tire rate to $10 per tire.

The fee changes take effect on July 1, 2019.
