Texas lawmaker wants pipeline protesters to face same punishment as attempted killers

A Texas lawmaker wants the state to treat pipeline protesters the same as it does attempted killers.

State Rep. Chris Paddie, a Republican from Marshall introduced House Bill 3557 which targets those who “engage in civil disobedience to stop or delay construction on pipelines.”

His bill would make such crimes a felony with a sentence of 20 years in prison according to a report this week in the Texas Observer.
