EDF buys its first wind farm in Nebraska

EDF Renewables North America, a California firm with wind farm experience in Oklahoma has picked up another wind farm—this one in Nebraska.

It’s closed on a deal with York Nebraska Wind Partners, LLC  to buy the 300 megawatt Milligan 1 Wind Project which should be ut into full operation in late 2020.

The project is located in Sale County in southern Nebraska and will sell its electricity and Renewable Energy Credits to the Southwest Power Pool, the same one that regulates Oklahoma electrical power. The Milligan 1 Wind Project is also EDF’s first project in Nebraska.

The expected electricity generated at full capacity is enough to meet the consumption of up to 115,000 average homes. This is equivalent to avoiding more than 900,000 metric tons of CO₂ emissions annually1 which represents the greenhouse gas emissions from 190,000 passenger vehicles driven over the course of one year.

EDF Renewables is one of the largest renewable energy developers in North America with 15 gigawatts of wind, solar, storage, projects developed throughout the U.S., Canada, and Mexico.
