OKC’s Will Rogers World Airport expansion bids received

Bids have been received to expand Oklahoma City’s Will Rogers World Airport, a place used daily by oil and gas crews flying to remote places for exploration.

The apparent low bidder to construct a four-gate terminal expansion is Timberlake Construction Co. at $61.9 million.

The bid has yet to be approved but the architect’s estimate was $65.3 million.  It and five other bids for the massive project will be reviewed by the Airport Trust before the low bid is formally accepted and approved.

The bidding came as enplanement figures were recently released for September 2018 at the airport. Most airlilnes reported an increase in passengers with Allegiant Air indicating a 74% jump. United’s numbers for September were up 18%.

American and Delta each had enplanement increases in the 8% range.

But overall, the airport had a 13.51% increase in people boarding flights out of the city. It’s the largest increase since January when the enplanements took a more than 17% increase.
