Pruitt set to go before U.S. Senate Committee again in August

An August hearing by the U.S. Senate Environment and Public Works Committee will be interesting not just because EPA Administrator Scott Pruitt will testify, but how his long-time mentor U.S. Sen. Jim Inhofe reacts with him.

Inhofe recently said he had a lot of questions about Pruitt’s ethics challenges and and even suggested that perhaps, it was time for Pruitt to leave the office.

Pruitt is set to testify sometime in August but the exact date was not announced by committee chairman, Sen. John Barasso of Wyoming.

Barrasso said previously that he would call Pruitt to testify about Pruitt’s spending on first class travel, use of security detail and connections with lobbyists and industry groups. But he was waiting for findings from reviews into Pruitt’s ethics by the EPA inspector general and the White House. Barrasso’s office said the exact date of the hearing will come later.

“The hearing will give senators the opportunity to ask important questions and hear about the work being done at the agency,” Barrasso said in a release.

Pruitt, the former Oklahoma Attorney General last testified before the Senate committee in January.
