Circling the Wagons for Scott Pruitt

The President says he’s standing by Scott Pruitt. So do Oklahoma U.S. Senators Jim Inhofe and James Lankford.

And while Pruitt faces seemingly scandal after scandal over his spending at EPA, allies are taking no chances.

At least that’s how E and E is reporting the controversies involving the former Oklahoma Attorney General. The environmental and energy news group reports conservatives have been working to support Pruitt, even though President Trump tweeted he believes Pruitt is “doing a great job but is TOTALLY under siege.”

“I don’t think Pruitt is out of danger, but I don’t think he’s started to be pushed over the edge, either. It’s still all up in the air,” said one ardent supporter.

But the issues swirling around Pruitt could come into more focus this week as the U.S. Senate holds a procedural vote on the nomination of Andrew Wheeler for deputy EPA administrator, the agency’s No. 2 position.

There could be some serious questions raised whether Wheeler is qualified to take over the EPA should Pruitt be forced out.

The highest ranking politician to call for Pruitt’s resignation is House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi who has accused Pruitt of promoting  “corruption, cronyism and incompetence.”

On the other hand, Pelosi critics might suggest it’s a badge of courage for the Republican Pruitt to be criticized by Pelosi, the leader of Democrats in the House.
