34 More Permits to Drill Handed Out for Oklahoma’s STACK Play

Oklahoma’s STACK play is seeing no letup in  the interest in more exploration. At least 34 more permits were approved in the past week for the big play.

The latest permits to drill reports as published by OK Energy Today show continued heavy exploration underway.  The heaviest interest is in Kingfisher county where 21 permits to drill were issued as of the April 19 through April 25 period. At least 15 of the permits were issued to Oklahoma Energy Acquisition, the subsidiary of Houston, Texas based Alta Mesa Holdings LP.

Ten permits to drill were issued for Blaine County. Five went to Continental Resources, 2 to Devon and 3 to Marathon Oil.

Linn Operating LLC acquired 3 permits to drill in Canadian County, the third county that makes up the STACK.

Six permits were issued for Dewey county and three in Garvin County.  Interest in the gas well prospects of southeast Oklahoma was shown by Trinity Operating. It picked up 8 of the 12 permits issued for Hughes County.
