Oklahoma Gasoline Prices Hit $2.19 a Gallon

Low gasoline prices in Oklahoma will continue into the New Year’s weekend as they average $2.19 a gallon, fifth lowest in the country.

AAA Oklahoma says the national average is $2.44 a gallon, up two cents from a week ago. The cheapest gasoline is in Alabama where the average is $2.17. Most expensive is Hawaii at $3.29 a gallon.

The national average is 26 cents higher than a year ago.

“The majority of motorists have seen savings at the pump this month. The national gas price average is more than five cents cheaper than the beginning of December,” said Leslie Gamble, AAA Oklahoma spokeswoman.

Texas is second nationally when it comes to cheap gasoline with an average of $2.17. Mississippi and Arkansas are tied for third with a $2.18 a gallon average.

But Michigan saw the biggest weekly change as prices rose 17 cents on average. Ohio saw prices go up 15 cents.

But gasoline prices continue to drop in the central part of the country with a 4-cent a gallon drop in North Dakota and 2 cents in Kansas.
