City of Lawton Intensifies Search for New Water Resources

The City of Lawton is in the process of exploring for new water wells and apparently has located at least one potentially good site.

The Lawton Constitution reports it is one of ten sites originally drilled by a consulting firm hired two years ago to find more water sources for the city. The contract with Garver Company was a move by the city to find more water resources in addition to the three lakes currently used by the city. City leaders took the action after a drought left Lakes Ellsworth, Lawtonka and Waurika with low water levels.
