OGE Announces Expansion of Rate Refund Program

Oklahoma Gas and Electric announced this week plans to expand its rate-refunds to some former customers.

The announcement followed the company’s most recent rate case. Existing customers started receiving refunds in May after the company filed its new rates. OGE will now start providing refunds to customers who discontinued their electric service during the interim rate period of July 1, 2016 to May 1, 2017.

Former OGE customers have until the end of November to make refund arrangements.

Also this week, the utility announced plans to make it easier for customers to learn more about power outages through text, email or phone notifications. Customers will also be able to use text messaging to report outages.

The new notification option builds on current customer outage communications which include outage details and restoration estimates. Customers can sign in at oge.com or by calling the 24-hour outage line. They can also check System Watch, OGE’s online outage map.
