Plains All American Pipeline Announces Expansion Plans

Houston-based Plains All American Pipeline, L.P. will add 120,000 barrels a day in pipeline capacity as it expands from the Permian Basin between Midland to the crude oil storage facility located in Cushing, Oklahoma.

The pipeline company announced Tuesday that it has obtained additional commitments to expand the Sunrise pipeline by 180 miles between Colorado City and Wichita Falls, Texas.

The expansion projects are expected to be in use by mid-2019 pending regulatory approval.

In January, Plains All American announced its intention to purchase the Alpha Crude Connector pipeline gathering and storage system from Midland-based Concho Resources and Dallas private-equity firm Energy Spectrum Capital. The company also said it will expand its existing BridgeTex and Cactus pipeline systems that connect West Texas to Houston and Corpus Christi.
