In case you missed it—–what two European countries are doing in regards to their energy production.

Voters in Switzerland have turned down a plan to speed up the country’s move to dump nuclear energy. In a referendum on Sunday, they voted 54.2 percent to 45.8 percent against the plan promoted by the Green party to close three of the country’s five nuclear plants by next year.

And Finland has announced it plans to phase out coal-powered electricity generating plants by 2030 in a move to cut greenhouse gas emissions. The country also intends to cut oil imports by half and increase the number of electric cars on the road.

The Nordic country says the moves are part of its “Energy and Climate Strategy for 2030 and Beyond” plan to make Finland’s energy production carbon-neutral by 2050.
