A slight drop in gasoline prices was reflected over the past week in Oklahoma as the statewide price average hit $2.05 a gallon, according to the latest Fuel Gauge Report from AAA Oklahoma.  The average is nearly the same as reported on Sept. 22,  Aug. 20, July 5 and May 19.

“Gas prices are playing a cat and mouse game with motorists,” said Chuck Mai, spokesman for AAA Oklahoma. “We never know where they’re going to be from day to day, whether they’ll be up or down. However, the state average has shown some stability since mid-April, residing in a range of between $1.92 and $2.16.”

Bartlesville has the state’s lowest average at $1.91, down 6 cents in the past week. Five other cities around Oklahoma have averages less than $2 a gallon including Idabel at $1.95 and Lawton at $1.96

Stillwater remains the high spot in the state with an average of $2.17 while Guymon has an average of $2.10 a gallon.

Prices in the Central United States remain some of the cheapest in the country with three states in the region featured in the top 10 lowest: Missouri ($1.99), Oklahoma ($2.05) and Kansas ($2.06).

Pump prices have climbed higher as compared to the previous week, even though many states have switched over to winter blend gasoline and there remain abundant crude oil supplies. The national average price for regular unleaded gasoline moved higher each of the past seven days reaching today’s average of $2.22 per gallon. Today’s average price is two cents more than one week ago and 1 cent more than one month ago. Despite the slight rise in pump prices, drivers continue to experience year-over-year savings with today’s average price about 7 cents per gallon less than the same date last year.
