University of Texas Researchers Blame Oil and Gas Industry on Increased Earthquakes in Lone Star State

University of Texas researchers now are making the claim that nearly 90 percent of the earthquakes in Texas in the past ten years have been caused by oil and gas activities.

Geoscientist Cliff Frohlich at the University of Texas-Austin is one of them and believes nearly nine in 10 of the quakes were directly the result of expanded oil and gas drilling and production. He and others are also critical of the Texas Railroad Commission for being slow to recognize that the energy activity is directly linked to the increase in Texas earthquakes, according to a report in Fortune Magazine.
