Environmental Writer to Speak at UCO

New York Times environmental writer Justin Gillis speaks Thursday during an appearance at the University of Central Oklahoma in Edmond. His topic will be “Hot Times! Into a Warming Word” as he speaks at 2 p.m. in UCO’s Pegasus Theater.

His writing in support of global warming theories has been controversial at times. His critics contend his writing is biased and far from being objective in covering the issue.

Gillis has been with the Times since 2007. A series he wrote from 2010 to 2013 won him the John B. Oakes Award for Distinguished Environmental Journalism from Columbia University in 2011.

His speech will be free and open to the public.
