10-Year Gas Storage Deal Announced by Plains All American Pipeline

A 10-year agreement has been announced by Plains All American Pipeline, L.P. based in Houston, Texas and Cheniere Energy Partners, L.P. The Pine Prairie Energy Center LL, a subsidiary of Plains All American will provide 8 billion cubic feet of firm natural gas storage to Cheniere beginning in 2018 to serve the storage needs of the company’s Sabine Pass Liquefaction facility.

Plains All American Pipeline handles more than 4.4 million barrels a day of crude oil and NGL in its Transportation segment. Pine Prairie, with a natural gas storage facility in Evangeline Parish, Louisiana currently consists of five natural gas storage caverns and a bi-directional header pipeline system that has nine interconnects with interstate natural gas pipelines.

Cheniere Partners is developing and constructing natural liquefaction operations at the Sabine Pass LNG terminal adjacent to the existing regasification facilities. The firm plans to construct over time up to six liquefaction trains which are in various stages of development and construction.
