Energy Company Wants Congress to Kill Daylight Saving Time

One U.S. energy company wants the country to permanently bring an end to Daylight Saving Time. American Power and Gas serves New York, New Jersey, Ohio and Pennsylvania and this week launched a change.org petition to congress.

The company said the elimination of Daylight Savings Time would reduce energy consumption nationwide and lead to lower energy costs for consumers.

“We believe that Daylight Saving Time is an outdated practice that actually increases energy consumption,” said Andrea d’Agostini, vice president of marketing and public relations. “By signing this petition you are helping us raise this issue to lawmakers and ultimately save energy.”
