Blaine County Produces Two More Big Wells

Oil prices remain anemic and oil storage continues at a record pace at the Cushing tank farm, but oil production continues in Oklahoma with a few more big wells in recent weeks.

As noted on OK Energy Today’s Completion reports, Blaine County is site of two of the biggest and both were struck in the Mississippian play.

Continental Resources completed a well in early January that produced 1,829 barrels of oil a day along with 3,057 Mcf of gas. the Blurton 1-7-6XH well is located approximately 8 miles northeast of Watonga and north of state highway 3. The well’s spud date was August 13, 2015 and drilling finished in early November. Completion was Jan. 8.

Newfield Exploration Mid-con Inc. continued its successful ways in Blaine county with a well producing 1,018 barrels a day along with 1,561 Mcf of natural gas. Located about 8 miles southeast of Watonga and south of state highway 3, the Dorothy 1H-32 well had a Sept. 13, 2015 spud date followed by the end of drilling on Nov. 11 and a completion date of Dec. 5, 2015.
