No snow for Oklahoma—Just Cold WX Laments State Climatologist

Never a dull moment when you’re reading the daily Mesonet update from Gary McManus, the State Climatologist. He admitted Thursday’s he is an “infamous winter hater” and a snow hater too.

“But I’ve also always said if it’s going to just be cold, it might as well snow to liven things up.”

While the east coast was preparing for what McManus called “SNOW-MAGEDDON-LYPSE 2016” with 2-3 feet of snow, he was disappointed.

“AND ALL WE CAN GET IS A FREEZING FOG ADVISORY???”

Even with the cold front this week, much warmer weather is coming with temperatures into the 50s on Sunday. And by next week, some days will see temperatures in the 50s and mid-60s.

As McManus put it, “If it’s not going to snow, give us 60s and 70s and move along, winter.”
