OGE Line Crews Deliver When It Counts

Oklahoma Gas and Electric paid special honor over the weekend to its line crews.

It was part of National Linemen Appreciation Day held on April 18.

“On this day, we recognize the skill, commitment and sacrifice of the linemen who energize our homes and businesses,” said Chad Guthrie, Director T&D Construction Operations at OG&E. “Their work is essential to our communities, and we are grateful for the professionalism and resilience they demonstrate in every situation.”

The company said that every day, its line crews power the moments customers depend on most, from turning on the lights before dawn to keeping businesses, schools and hospitals running safely and reliably. Their work requires skill, precision, and dedication, often performed high above the ground and away from the spotlight, but always with the communities they serve in mind.

By the Numbers: Powering Our Communities
OG&E line crews maintain and operate a vast electric system serving more than 913,000 customers across Oklahoma and western Arkansas, including more than 38,000 miles of power lines.

Severe weather events underscore the critical role of rapid, large-scale response efforts to maintain grid reliability. In 2025:

  • OG&E activated its emergency response system 11 times, mobilizing crews and resources across the system to respond to major storms.
  • Line crews replaced more than 6,200 poles damaged during storms.

Each response reflects a coordinated effort to restore service as quickly and safely as possible, often under extreme conditions. On National Lineman Appreciation Day, OG&E encourages customers to thank the men and women who work behind the scenes, often in the toughest conditions, to keep our lights on.
