Oklahoma farmers and ranchers who joined forces in recent months in a growing movement against the expansion of wind and solar projects will likely sympathize with a Texas farmer’s similar rejection of the renewable energy industry into his region.
It’s a story of central Texas farmer Robert Fleming who has undertaken his own crusade to stop the spread of wind turbines and solar panels near Odessa. He’s had some victories and some losses in his quest to protect his several thousand acres of ranch and farmland.
The 61-year old fifth-generation farmer and rancher has gone to county governments and school districts to convince them not to give the projects any tax breaks.
