Oklahoma Gas and Electric crews were kept busy with handling weekend storm damage that left thousands without power beginning Saturday night.
The storms packed 70 mph winds along with heavy rain and hail and downed power lines and broke power poles and cross arms. The hardest hit area where crews concentrated their efforts were in the northeast parts of the service area including Kellyville, Sapulpa, Drumright and Muskogee. By late Saturday, only about 2,500 customers were without serice as crews were able to restore power to 85% of those customers who lost power in the initial storm damage. Full restoration of power was expected by Sunday noon.
By Monday afternoon, only about 90 customers in the affected region were shown on the OGE Outage Map as without power. A handful of those were also in the Fort Smith, Arkansas area.
An outage map for Public Service Company of Oklahoma showed about 30 customers were still without power as of Monday afternoon.
Restoration Underway
- We understand how important it is for our customers to have power. Our crews have been and will continue to work around the clock as long as it is safe to do so and until power is fully restored.
- Estimated times of restoration are available on System Watch for areas outside of northeastern Oklahoma. We will advise when restoration times are available for remaining outages and anticipate a majority of these outages will persist overnight.
- Once we’ve repaired the power grid, we prioritize restoration for the community’s essential services, such as hospitals, police stations, fire departments, public works, and other critical infrastructure.
After the Storm
- Following storms, OG&E will bring tree and brush debris to the curb, however customers are responsible for removing the debris. City and county resources for debris removal may be available and will vary by community
