A new filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission reveals one investment firm owns more than 11% of the shares in Oklahoma City’s Expand Energy.
The Vanguard Group, based in Malvern, Pennsylvania, filed the report showing its ownership in Expand Energy totaled 11.47% or 26,702,490 shares. Founded in 1975, the company has about $10.4 trillion in global assets under management as of November 2024.
The company is also considered along with BlackRock and State Street to be one of the Big Three index fund managements playing a dominant role in retail investing.
One report indicated Expand Energy, formerly Chesapeake Energy, has 232.70 million shares outstanding and the number of shares increased by 9.80% in one year.
Expand shares closed Monday at $100.06 after a 5-cent gain or 0.050% for the day. But trading Tuesday morning saw Expand trading at $103.09 after a gain of $3.03 or 3.03%.
