Bice energy bills working their way through Congress

Oklahoma Congresswoman Stephanie Bice tells voters she is all about “Restoring and protecting American energy dominance.”

It’s what she declared in a recent flyer sent to constituents in her U.S. House District. She’s promoting the cutting of permitting red tape, the clearing the way for American energy infrastructure, the reversing of failed green New Deal policies and the lowering of gas prices for Oklahomans.

Two of the four bills she helped sponsor or supported were either signed or passed. The Unleashing American Energy executive order which removes regulations imposed on the development and use of the country’s abundant energy was signed by President Trump.

The Protecting American Energy Production Act, which Rep. Bice supported was passed. It prohibits any federal moratorium on the use of hydraulic fracturing.

Two measures she helped introduce are working their way through Congress.

The Natural Gas Act codifes President Trump’s executive order to ensure Americans can choose what type of stove, water heater or furnace they prefer in their homes. According to a spokesman for Rep. Bice, the bill has been referred to the House Energy and Commerce Committee “but no further action has happened at this time.” The spokesman said the House passed similar measures but they have not been taken up by the Senate.

Rep. Bice also helped with the introduction of the BLM Mineral Spacing act which would streamline and improve the permitting process for energy development and “respects the rights of private mineral holders.”

The Bice spokesman explained it was re-introduced alongside Senator Hoeven. It was passed last year out of the Senate Energy andd Natural Resources Committee but no action was taken in the House.

“We are currently engaging with the committee of jurisdiction and working all avenues to get it passed out of the House.”
