Arkansas legislators didn’t listen to former regulator about higher utility rates

 

A former state regulator in Arkansas contends a bill to allow utilities to raise revenue for projects under construction will only lead to higher electric bills for consumers.

John C. Pickett, former chairman of the Arkansas Public Service Commission told legislators it will defang rate watchdogs. Now an economics professor emeritus at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock, Pickett’s comments fell on deaf ears as the Senate and House passed Senate Bill 307 a couple of weeks ago.
