Western Oklahoma’s Granite Wash was one of only two oil plays in the U.S. to record increased rig activity over the past week.
The Baker Hughes weekly rig count showed there was an increase in drilling in the play. Two rigs were added over the past week increasing the count to 10 rigs.
The Williston of North Dakota and Montana rig count increased one to 34.
Oklahoma’s Cana Woodford remained at 22 rigs in the same region.
The Ardmore Woodford continued at 3 rigs while no drilling activity was reported for another week in the Arkoma Woodford.
The Permian Basin remained the nation’s most active shale play with a count of 301 rigs, a decline of 3 over the past week. The Eagle Ford count declined one to 8 rigs. The Haynesville stayed at 29 and the Marcellus continued with a count of 24 rigs.
The Mississippian in Oklahoma and southern Kansas went another week with no reported rig activity. The Utica was unchanged at 11. The Barnett play remained at one.
