Nation’s oil and gas plays hold steady for drilling activity

 

Only two of the nation’s oil and gas plays saw a gain in active rigs in the past week, according to the latest Baker Hughes rig count.

While the plays in Oklahoma remained steady, the Permian Basin added one rig to increase to 305 and the Haynesville did the same increase, creating a total of 31 active rigs.

The Cana Woodford in western Oklahkoma was unchanged at 21. The Ardmore Woodford stayed at 3 rigs and the Arkoma Woodford went another week with no reported drilling activity. The Granite Wash remained at 9 rigs and the Mississippian continued its absence of any reported drilling activity, based on the Baker Hughes count.

Other oil and gas plays across the U.S. were unchanged: The Barnett at one rig, the D-J Basin at 6, the  Eagle Ford at 48 rigs, the Utica play at 11 rigs and the Williston of North Dakota and Montana at 33 rigs.
