Few changes seen in rig counts in Oklahoma and across the U.S.

Oklahoma maintained a count of 45 active oil and gas rigs over the past week while nationally, the total increased by one to 593, according to the latest Baker Hughes rig count released on Friday.

Oklahoma’s total is four more than one year ago. The U.S. count included a loss of two oil rigs leaving 486 across the country while there was a gain of 3 gas rigs to reach 102. The number of miscellaneous rigs was unchanged at 5.

The current rig count of 593 is 36 fewer than a year ago when the total was 629. The decline included a loss of 20 oil rigs and 17 gas rigs while the miscellaneous count grew by one. The nation’s offshore rig total dropped by one to 13.

Of the state totals, Texas gained two to hit 282 rigs and New Mexico was unchanged at 105. North Dakota remained at 32 rigs while Louisiana’s total fell one to 29. No change was reported in Colorado where the total is 9 rigs.

The Red Top Rig Report showed the count in Kansas grew 3 to 15 rigs. Ohio stayed at 9 and Pennsylvania remained at 15. The count in Utah continued with 12 and West Virginia saw no change with a total of 11 rigs. Wyoming’s total of 20 was the same as the previous week.
