Increased drilling in Oklahoma’s Granite Wash

 

Oklahoma’s Granite Wash oil and gas play was one of two plays in the U.S. last week that recorded an increase in drilling activity.

According to the latest rig count provided by the Baker Hughes Co., the Granite Wash count grew by one to a total of 8 rigs. The other energy play that saw a gain was the Permian Basin where numbers also increased by one to a total of 304 active rigs.

The only energy play in the U.S. to see a decline was the Williston in North Dakota and Montana where the count fell by one to 33 rigs.

All other plays across the nation were unchanged in their rig counts.

The Eagle Ford remained at 48. The Marcellus stayed at 23 and the Haynesville continued with 23 rigs. The Ardmore Woodford in Oklahoma was unchanged at 2 rigs and the Arkoma Woodford went another week with no reported rig activity. The Cana Woodford stayed at 19 rigs.

The Barnett play had no change in its count of one rig. The D-J Basin remained at 6. The Utica continued with 11 rigs.
