The latest electric vehicle manufacturer to file for bankruptcy, Nikola, is part of a list of EV makers who have gone broke that includes Canoo, the totally bankrupt company with a manufacturing plant in Oklahoma City and operations in the eastern city of Pryor.
Canoo’s CEO Tony Aquila had high hopes and convinced Oklahoma state officials to help finance his plans. But things weren’t meant to last
“We are truly disappointed that things turned out as they did,” CEO Tony Aquila wrote last month reported QUARTZ.
Canoo had troubles from the start and even was fined $1.5 million last summer by the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission for reporting failures.
